Volunteer Opportunities

UAPM works in three active committees in its efforts to bring about change in the commercial dog breeding industry (puppy mills). Volunteers are critical to our continued work and success. If you would like to join us, please consider joining one of the following committees:
Zoning
The zoning committee tracks applications to local zoning authorities for commercial breeding operations and attends zoning hearings as advocates for dog welfare. This committee tries to coordinate with interested residents of municipalities in an effort to prevent the creation or expansion of puppy mills.

If you would like to become involved in this effort, please contact us

Legislation
The legislation committee stays informed of dog related legislation, communicates with lawmakers as needed, performs internet research, and communicates with other animal advocates throughout the region.

Public Awareness
The public awareness committee organizes and attends events to educate the public on the puppy mill issue. Members also assist in fundraising efforts and are available to discuss the issue with inquiring people and groups.
